How SmartFit Has Helped Change Lives
Gen came to us around 5 months ago looking for help getting back in shape and gaining strength after having her 3rd child. Soon after, she began attending sessions with our trainer Lindsey.
After reaching the lowest weight she has ever been at and shedding 4 inches around her waist, Gen was gracious enough to answer a few questions for me about our program and her time with us so far.
How long have you been with SmartFit?
Gen: I started with SmartFit October 2015, just after the Thanksgiving long weekend.
How have you enjoyed the workouts?
Gen: I absolutely love the workouts — as a working mom of 3 kids under the age of 6, I don’t have a lot of time, so I need to make my 30 minutes count! Lindsey definitely keeps me on my toes and challenges me. She always has something different, so not only does it keep it interesting for me, but it also keeps my body guessing.
Is this style of eating any different than you’ve done before?
Gen: This was a completely new way of eating for me. It was always ingrained in me that I should be eating 5-6 small meals a day, etc. so in terms of food prep, I was always ok starting out, but eventually I would find it just too time consuming! When [Travis] introduced me to this style of eating, I couldn’t believe how easy it was! Not only that, but I also found that I was listening more to my body instead of just eating because of what time it was and because I needed to make sure I ate my 5-6 meals. This style of eating was so easy and very effective.
What is your favourite part of the SmartFit Program?
Gen: I love how simple it is. Like I said, I work full time and have 3 little ones, but I also sing and run a home-based baking business on the side, so time is a big thing for me. To actually see the results without having to spend hours upon hours working out and following/preparing a complicated meal plan has been amazing for me.
How long do you plan to stay for?
Gen: I don’t have any plans of leaving any time soon!
What were your goals at the beginning?
Gen: In the beginning, my two biggest goals were to lose the baby weight and to also become stronger. I didn’t want to be “skinny” — I was looking to lose excess weight and gain strength and muscle definition.
Any advice for individuals considering joining us?
Gen: Joining SmartFit was one of the best things I have ever done for myself. It was an investment in myself and my health, and I would strongly recommend anyone for that push or the motivation to get fit to join SmartFit. Everyone is so supportive and friendly and the program is simple and effective. In all the years I’ve trained and worked out, I have been the most successful with SmartFit — it wasn’t just a temporary fix, but a lifestyle change, and the results have been amazing to me!
