Lisa has been attending buddy training sessions with our trainer Lindsey for the last 10 months. She came to us hoping to finally find a program that would help her lose weight and feel healthy.
After losing an amazing 54 lbs and an overall total of 42.3 inches, Lisa was kind enough to take the time to answer a few questions for me about our program and her time with us so far!

When did you first join SmartFit?
Lisa: At the end of May 2015.
What do you enjoy most about the workouts?
Lisa: the personalized one-on-one training with Lindsey. It was a key component for me, especially in the beginning.
Do you find the workouts to be effective?
Lisa: Absolutely! I responded very quickly to the weight training, and I love the results.
Is the SmartFit nutrition plan different than you’ve done before?
Lisa: Yes, very different. My story is pretty common. Starting as a fat baby, I have battled weight my whole life. My mom put me on my first diet when I was 9 years old, and that was the start of a very long succession of ineffective diets and exercise programs throughout the years. Then in May 2015, a close friend and co-worker sent me a link to SmartFit. She had heard about them through knowing others who had struggled with their weight and were having success there. Weight was not an issue for my friend, but she did want to be stronger and more defined, and I of course wanted to be thinner, so I put aside my doubts and decided to go with her and check it out. We booked a consultation with Travis, and right from that first meeting, I recognized this was going to be different from what I was used to. He takes an invested interest in you as a person, and through his kind, genuine, and supportive manner, he educated me about the nutrition needed to achieve real, long-term weight loss. As a result, I feel better now than I did in my 20’s, and it has forever changed the way I look at food and the choices I now make to achieve my weight-loss goals; not just for the present, but for the future — its a permanent lifestyle change.
What has been your favourite part of working with SmartFit?
Lisa: Hmm, that is a very hard choice to make. I love my nutrition plan as much as my workout plan, but I must include the SmartFit personal trainers, too. They are amazing to work with and their techniques are extremely effective. They create a non-intimidating, friendly environment which I personally love!!
What were your goals before you had started?
Lisa: I didn’t have any goals per se, I struggled to have hope about any program, but I knew that I would give it 100% of my effort regardless.
Have your goals been met and/or surpassed in your time with us?
Lisa: Absolutely! Going from a size 18 to a size 6 in a matter of months is pretty fantastic. Also, because of the weight training, I’m thrilled with my shape and definition. That part is not achievable by weight loss alone, and it surprised me how much I really enjoy it!
When and in what ways did you first start to see results?
Lisa: I had taken a total of 17 inches off my body within the first two months, and my skin started to glow. I would get as many comments about my skin as the weight loss!
Have you experienced any positive benefits from working with SmartFit besides weightloss?
Lisa: Well, clothes shopping is a joy again, let me tell you! But far more importantly, I’m happy, full of energy, and I find myself really embracing all that life has to offer now. When you feel better, you do better, and that is so true!
Do you have any advice for individuals considering joining us?
Lisa: If you are looking to change the way your body looks and feels, I encourage you to book a consultation with Travis or one of the trainers at the SmartFit gym. He and his trainers are changing lives there. They changed mine.
